Privacy Policy

This policy is intended for visitors, learners, account holders, and users who interact with The Architect through connected identity or messaging platforms.

Effective date: March 1, 2026

Overview

The Architect is an interactive software architecture learning platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.

By using The Architect, including our website, application, and connected login providers, you agree to the practices described on this page.

Information We Collect

Account information you provide directly, such as your email address, username, display name, and password when you create an account.

Authentication information when you sign in with GitHub, Google, LinkedIn, or a passkey. Depending on the provider and permissions you approve, this may include profile identifiers, email address, display name, avatar URL, and passkey credential data.

Product data generated through your use of the platform, including challenge submissions, architecture graphs, game progress, scores, XP, streaks, career path selections, and similar learning activity.

Administrative and content data, such as blog images uploaded by administrators and records needed to manage invited team members and site content.

Technical and security information such as session cookies, browser and device information, request logs, and IP-address-related metadata used to operate and secure the service.

If you interact with us through Meta products such as WhatsApp Business or Facebook, we may receive the contact, profile, and message information you choose to share through those services.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to create and secure accounts, sign users in, remember sessions, and provide platform features.

We use learning activity and submission data to run simulations, score progress, personalize the experience, and maintain leaderboards or progression systems.

We use technical and security information to detect abuse, troubleshoot issues, enforce our policies, and keep the service reliable.

We may use contact information to respond to support requests, account issues, legal requests, or product communications related to your use of the service.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with service providers that help us host, secure, store, and deliver the platform, including infrastructure, database, and file-storage providers.

If you sign in with GitHub, Google, or LinkedIn, those providers process your information under their own terms and privacy policies.

If you communicate with us through WhatsApp, Facebook, or other Meta services, Meta may also process your information under Meta's own policies.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect users, or respond to valid legal requests.

Cookies and Authentication

The Architect uses cookies and similar session mechanisms to keep you signed in and to protect account access.

We currently use an HTTP-only session cookie to authenticate users. Some browser settings may affect how login and session persistence work.

Data Retention

We retain account, authentication, and product data for as long as needed to operate the service, maintain records of user progress, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Temporary authentication state used for OAuth and passkey flows is retained only for short periods needed to complete those flows.

We may delete or anonymize information when it is no longer reasonably needed for these purposes.

Your Choices

You may stop using the service at any time. You may also ask us to review, correct, or delete personal information associated with your account, subject to legal and security requirements.

You can remove passkeys from your account through the product where available, and you can disconnect third-party providers where supported.

For step-by-step deletion instructions, visit the Data Deletion Instructions page.

Data Deletion Requests

To request deletion of your account data or information associated with a connected app review or messaging integration, email hello@thearchitect.fun with the subject line Data Deletion Request.

Include enough information for us to identify your account or conversation, such as your username, email address, and the provider you used to contact or sign in.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can guarantee absolute security, and you use the service at your own risk.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and revise the effective date above.
